Digital Tipping Point: Jesus Rubio Hernandez, Head of the Promotion and Coordination Service of Extremadura, Spain 09
This interview with Jesus explores some of the details of the migration of the government to Free Open Source Software, as well as some of the details of the government's rollout of its Information Society Digital Inclusiveness programs. Those programs have seen the partnership of universities, business, and government to deliver high speed Internet services, the establishment of Telecenters, and the training of children and adults in digital literacy. All of these initiatives have proven to be popular, as other footage from visits to Telecenters has shown, and all of them are based on Free Open Source Software.
This footage is raw footage. It is blue tinged and flickers. Those defects will be rendered out of the final segments that appear in our finished Digital Tipping Point products. Also, we have not cut out a lot of the off-camera discussion from these segments of Jesus' interview, because there is a lot of interesting information that comes forth from his co-workers off-camera. For example, it is during this interview that the DTP crew learned of a big conference in Porto Alegre, Brazil. As a sole result of that conversation, our DTP crew subsequently traveled to that conference, which resulted in our interview with the very charismatic Gilberto Gil, the Culture Minister of Brazil. We are keeping in this background footage for the purpose of out-takes, as some funny insider jokes occur in this off-camera discussion, and we might use some of the footage in the "making of" film, if any, which will follow the actual first DTP film, code-named DTP Buzz.
